My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 3 years
Gender: Male
Color: Black & White
Weight: 54 lbs
Variety: Field

JR is a bundle of energy who loves to run and play with his foster brother in the backyard. He is a handsome boy who trots smoothly and prances along on a walk. He does very well on a leash when he is by himself, but when he's with other dogs, he wants to run and play.

JR is crate trained, and he finds the crate to be a place of safety when he's not sure what's going on around him. However, he has complete run of the house when his foster parents are at home, and he's very happy to sleep on the floor in the bedroom. He is not a counter surfer, and he doesn't seem to show any interest in getting up on the furniture or the bed.

JR does have some anxieties. He sometimes becomes fearful and does not know what to do. When he is frightened by a loud noise, he wants to go hide or at least be near his foster mom or dad. When he is frightened by a new person or a person making a sudden movement, he barks loudly and does some growling and pacing, as he is unsure in that situation. Recently he was introduced to his foster parents' four-year-old grandson. Although the boy was quiet and respectful, JR never quite seemed to understand what exactly the little guy was or how to react to him.

JR would do best in a home with a quiet adult family or one with older, respectful children, and he will learn best with another dog to play with and to help him learn to understand people. JR has been completely vet checked and is in great health, so he is ready for the special Forever Family that will nurture him and help him to be the best dog he can be!

Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about JR.
