Sweetpea's Story...
Sweetpea and her companion Toto were given to the shelter when their owners moved and couldn't take them along. Sweetpea is 6 years old and such a sweetheart! She's pretty mild mannered and a great house dog. Her fur is a beautiful color and she cleaned up nicely after she got into her foster home. If you would like to adopt this sweet girl please apply! If you'd like to adopt her along with her little Cairn/Wirehair Dachs mix pal there is a reduced adoption fee for the pair. (they can be adopted separately as well.) Toto has been treated successfully for heartworms and he will be able to travel to his new home on October 22nd when his recovery/rest period is complete. Sweetpea is able to come to her new home on October 12th

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sweetpea, a Brattleboro Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Brattleboro, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Brattleboro.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Brattleboro already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Brattleboro breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Brattleboro paves the way for another one to be saved.
