From Mira's foster mom:
I first saw Mira from a distance, alone and near a busy street; "Skinny puppy," I thought, "and look how big her feet are." What I couldn't see from so far away was that she was almost completely hairless and covered with scabs and raw spots. Her feet were indeed big, because they were swollen. I discovered her terrible condition when we met later the same day, in the parking lot of an apartment complex under the scorching Texas sun.
To see a puppy in this condition was shocking enough, but even worse, she was so alone. This pup who craved attention so badly was forsaken by everyone she met. Mind you, she looked and smelled terrible, but it wasn't her fault! Her plight touched me deeply and I brought her home. She has been here with me for nearly eight weeks and with help from Forgotten Dogs of the Fifth Ward Project, she is completely recovered.
Mira is vaccinated and spayed. She is mostly house-trained, needing only positive reinforcement. She loves other dogs and has never displayed any aggression. She is very interested in the cat, though not in an aggressive way, but she will chase kitty should kitty run. She remains untested around children, but she's so friendly and sweet that I cannot imagine any problem. In fact, a child might be just what this high energy girl needs; she is busy and bouncy! Mira is crate-trained and walks on a leash. She gets a little crazy romping with her foster brothers, but when I take her individually for a training session she does very well. She can heel, sit, stay and come. She is roughly 8 months old, which is still quite young and so I try to adjust my expectations accordingly.
Mira weighs about 30 lbs. and appears to be a Shar-pei and Laborador Retriever mix, but who can know? She's very cute and fancies herself a lap dog; I confess from time to time I let her sprawl on top of me and she is in heaven! She is never far away, often laying up against my legs while I'm in the kitchen or watching curiously while I bathe. This sweet girl loves her person and that person could be you! Many years of devotion and entertainment await the lucky person who takes Mira into their heart and home.
