Romulus's Story...
Romulus is a young adult male dog that we think is right around 1 year old. He looks to be some mixture of Terrier and Chihuahua with perhaps something else as well. He came to us from the Austin city dog pound. He was a bit fearful at first, but now has warmed up to our volunteers and we're able to pick him up and hold him with no resistance. At this point though we feel he'd fit in best with an adults-only home. He has been given a distemper/combo vaccination, a deworming, and has been neutered. His adoption fee is $95. We utilize a short adoption application form to assess compatibility between dogs and their prospective homes. This form is a simple one-sided Microsoft Word document and it can be e-mailed to you upon request. If you would like to receive the form via e-mail, or if you have any other questions, please send us an e-mail message. It would be best to e-mail us, rather than calling the Shelter. Thanks for looking at little Romulus!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Romulus, a Austin Terrier (Unknown Type, Small)/Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Terrier (Unknown Type, Small)/Chihuahua for sale in Austin, or seeking a Terrier (Unknown Type, Small)/Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Terrier (Unknown Type, Small)/Chihuahua breeders who help with Terrier (Unknown Type, Small)/Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
