Here's what the humans have to say about me:
MY NAME IS BUDDY. And I so want to be yours! I am a young (11 months) and energetic neutered male dachshund. I'm a handsome tan fellow who is ready for walks, runs, games and cuddles. My owner loves me so much but has to work 12 hour shifts and that is just too long for a guy like me to be alone. I am loving and know several commands (not all of which I always pay attention to) and am willing to learn more. I'd love a big yard to run around and chase squirrels and fetch a frizbee. No cats please, or other small animals, because I love to chase, and we don't want any unfortunate occurrences. Are you an active person looking for an active affectionate pal? I am your guy. Please come meet me. UPDATE: they tell me I am an absolute favorite here at the rescue. I'm sweet and loving, good with kids. In fact they say I'm a doll! They love me here, but I'm really waiting each day for MY special person to come meet me and take me to my forever home. Will it be today?? BTW: I like older kids!
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same sex in a home and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer no smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these issues. All our dogs are fully vetted, including all shots, wormer & flea protection, nails trimmed, the works. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, no exceptions as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training. Can you give him a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
