William's Story...
William was playing in the woods when he heard barking and all of a sudden was face to face with a hound dog. He was very scared but luckily the dog's owner rescued him and brought him to us. He is super sweet and full of lots of kitten energy. He is in a loving foster home until Oct. 13 when he will be old enough to be adopted and will come to the Geneseo Humane Society shelter. William can be put on Hold with a completed adoption application and deposit and then can be brought home directly from foster care. Please call (309) 944-4868 for more information. DOB 8-18-13

Why Adoption is a Great Option

William, a Geneseo Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Geneseo, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Geneseo.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Geneseo already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Geneseo breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Geneseo paves the way for another one to be saved.
