Keely's Story...
A sports car screeched to a halt in front of a cement factory, the passenger door opened, and a 10 wk kitten was thrown out. The sports car sped away, but fortunately, someone witnessed this and rushed the little kitten to the nearest shelter, ARTA Dog Rescue. The little girl was safely placed in a cage above a dog kennel where she spent the next 7 weeks of her life. Little Keely was so lonely as the weeks went by so another kitten was eventually placed with her to give her company. Keely knew nothing else but her little cage above the dogs and her new best friend, Comet (also for adoptiong), and she probably had not met many nice people in her life except the people at the dog shelter who fed her. Despite this, it only took her two days to adjust to living in a home with other kitties when she was finally brought to foster care 6 days ago.
Keely is a mellow and gentle kitten who is getting along with other kittens and cats. She is the perfect lap top kitty who will sit for length in a lap purring. She would probably be ok as an only kitty, but she does enjoy the company of other kitties. She always sleeps with her friend Comet and enjoys running around and tumbling with her. Keely likes to be in the same room with people when she is not sprawled on your lap. She does get a bit nervous when you shower; she sits on the counter and cries until you pop your head out to give her a kiss on the nose and let her know that you are not melting away in under the water.
Keely will be ready for adoption on Dec 16th following her appointment with the vet for spaying and FIV/FELV testing and her booster shots. Her adoption fee $95. Keely is about 22 weeks old and a female orange tabby (relatively rare—carries two recessive X-linked coat color alleles).

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Keely, a San Diego Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in San Diego, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in San Diego.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Diego already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Diego breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Diego paves the way for another one to be saved.
