Hank is a sweet young dog who is housebroken, is a fast learner so know many commands. He’s trustworthy in the house and is not destructive. He does not like new strange dogs and finds dog parks, boarding kennels and meet ups very frightening because in his first home he was attacked by neighborhood dogs. He is not the dog for life in a condo or for a family who plans to visit or have visitors with dogs. He has been working on the “Leave it!” command and he is doing better.

He needs a suburban home with a securely fenced yard. He would do well with an older male dog that is bigger than him that he can play with. Because he is fearful, the introductions will need to be slow and be done by an owner who is experienced in integrating dogs. He needs lots of positive reinforcement and his family needs to be able and willing to provide structure and routine to help him overcome some negative training and punishment he encountered previously. He does like children, but has a tendency to jump up on people so bigger kids with dog experience would be best. He has not been around cats, but it is felt that it would not go well.
