Akira, better known as KiKi, is a 1 year young, spayed female, looking for her forever home. She was a stray outside a business. One day she was found injured under a bush. It is believed she was punted which cause paralysis in her legs. She can scoot around and can hold her bowels to use the litter box with no problems. Her littler box is a baby pool with an opening in one side. Akira LOVES the company of people and other cats. She has not been around dogs. She is a super sweet girl who needs a home where she will be loved despite her handicap.

ARF'N accepts applications from people between the ages of 21 and 65. We would consider applications from potential adopters up to age 70 for our senior pets. This will be determined on a case by case basis. Active seniors would be considered as foster parents since fostering is a temporary situation.

ARF'N primarily adopts only to residents in the counties surrounding Hernando County in central Florida or within a 60-90 min. drive from the Brooksville/Spring Hill areas. The reason for this is that we personally conduct home visits for each of our rescued pets to ensure they are getting a safe home.

The application can be found here: http://www.arfn.org/adoption-application/

Email questions to: info@arfn.org. We do not have a phone number to reach us.

Our adoption fees for dogs range between $100 and $250. Our adoption fee for cats is $20. All of our pets come completely vetted (spay/neuter, vaccinations, heart worm tested, on heart worm prevention, and a microchip).

ARF'N is a rescue operated by volunteers with full-time professional jobs during the day. We can't always get back to you immediately. Most of our rescue work happens in the evenings and on the weekends. It can typically take up to two weeks to go from application to adoption. More time is required for pets with multiple applications and during holidays. We do not adopt on a first come, first served basis. We find the best match between pet and adopter. Please be patient with us through this process. Rude emails will disqualify you from adopting from us.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our rescue is a foster home based rescue. Please contact us if you are interested in meeting one of our animals. We can either start the application process, or tell you the next location we will be for an adoption event. You may meet some of the animals available for adoption there before starting the application process.

Our Adoption Process...

Our fees are kept as low as possible to get animals vetted and re-homed into loving families as quickly as possible. We require an application. Once the application is approved, we perform a vet verification to make sure your pets are spayed/neutered, current on core vaccinations, and your other dogs are on heart worm preventative. We also confirm home ownership or a landlord approval. Finally, we do a home visit/meet and greet with the animal in your home. Once the home visit is approved you will be offered an adoption contract. Most of our dogs are offered for an adoption fee between $150 - $250, depending on age and breed. We have a few long-timers that will be offered for less.
