Hello! My name is Bailey and I am a 5 yr. old, newly slender beagle girl that was rescued from a shelter in North Carolina. I was severely overweight when I was pulled out of the shelter; I could barely walk and had difficulty breathing due to the extra weight. I lived in a foster home for a few months and was examined by a vet during that time. The vet told me that I will need to be on daily thyroid medication for life. Since starting the medication, I am down to 30 lbs. and feel so much better! Now that I am a smaller-sized gal, I am actually able to run in the backyard so that I can check out all the smells and sounds around me!

I am crate trained and also know how to use a doggie door, though I will need some help with house training once I get settled in my new home. I get along great with other dogs & enjoy walking around with the cats! I love getting attention, especially if a good massage is included! My first foster mom said that I have a funny, raspy bark / howl that reminds her of a lifelong smoker. Smoking is NOT for me; this is just how I sound, and I think it adds to my funny personality! Update: On 10-24-13 I had a stone removed from my bladder and also had a hernia repaired. I am recuperating at Penny Angels right now, but will be ready for adoption again soon!
