Astra was originally rescued from a high kill shelter where she had been owner surrendered. The story was that another family member had originally owned her when she was a kitten and given her to this man (toddler in tow) and he was unable to keep her. He said she was only two years old and a great kitty, but they didn't want a cat. Her foster mom was visiting this shelter almost immediately after Astra came in and noticed how beautiful (huge emerald eyes), calm and sweet she was, especially for just having been brought to such a scary place. When told that Astra would be one of the first to be euthanized since she was an owner surrender, she brought her home. Astra was adopted into a fabulous home with two other cats. She has been in that home for months now and although she seemingly was doing well for the first couple of months, once she settled in and took ownership of her household, the other female cat in the home and Astra began to have issues. After trying everything humanly possible to help both of them adjust, the wonderful woman who adopted her called her foster mom back and tearfully said she thought Astra would be happiest as an only cat. Astra did get along with all sorts of kitties in her foster home, but it is probable that she is a dominant personality in the kitty kingdom and needs to be the queen. Astra would probably be fine with another male cat and dogs; however, the preference is for her to reign supreme and get all the loving for herself. She is extremely affectionate and an over-the-top people cat. She is great with kids and loves belly rubs. Astra likes to play (see video) but mostly likes to be adored. Astra is now only 2-3 years old so she is young with lots of years of loving left to give. She is front declawed and MUST be an inside-only kitty.
