My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Abhe was in a high kill shelter in southern Iowa. She was on the euthanasia list. A senior with a dry eye, she was not one of the dogs everyone was looking for in the shelter. But overlooking Abhe was their loss. She is super sweet and very loving. It's likely that Abhe was kept outside all her life and used for breeding. She adores humans, and is fine with cats. We feel that she would do best as an only dog just because she has been so deprived of human affection for so long that she deserves to be loved without sharing her human with another dog.

Abhe is working on house training (and does well with a regular schedule). She does NOT like to be crated, and will bark and howl, if left in a kennel. Since she is a hound, a fenced yard is a must.

Abhe has had a complete dental done. She is now ready for a new home! She will require eye drops for the dry eye which is why we included the special needs listing for her. UPDATE: Abhe had the problem eye removed, and so she will be much more comfortable. No more drops needed!
