Moondancer's Story...
Moondancer is a tiny little tortoise shell kitten with the cutest face. She is sweet, well socialized, and playful. She and her three sisters were abandoned at the city pound. They were too small to eat on their own without a bottle, and they were scheduled to be euthanized. We couldn't let that happen, so we took these four babies into our rescue.

This litter is too young to go home yet, but we are accepting applications for "pre-adoption." That way they can be held for specific adopters and go home as soon as they are big enough for their spays.

Moondancer's adoption fee of $125 or $200 if adopted together with another kitten includes their neuters, deworming, virus testing, age appropriate shots, microchip and registration. All of this would be much more if you paid for it at any vet (remember, "free" means you will spend a lot of money vetting a kitten while also possibly getting kittens from a cat that is not spayed and will continue to contribute to overpopulation). We do adopt kittens individually if there is another young cat in the home, but we do not adopt individual kittens because they need a kitten buddy for social and behavioral development. We don't make exceptions to this.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Moondancer, a Chicago Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
