Jesse's Story...
Jesse was pulled out of East Valley Shelter the day he was scheduled to be euthanized for space & time he had been there. He was a volunteer and shelter staff favorite. All of his supporters were feverishly networking him to find a rescue to take him. He had attended a mobile shelter adoption on 9/22 but no luck. All the other dogs were either adopted or taken by a rescue group...all except for him. This is what broke our hearts and we had to save him. He is great with other dogs! He is great with cats! He is great with horses, roosters and pot-belly pigs! Walks great on the leash. Rides perfect in the car. Gentle with treats, no food issues. 65 pounds right now but should put a few more pounds on. Was a stray but already neutered so maybe he was dumped. 8-9 years old. Mole under his right eye is nothing to worry about. Age. Nice teeth for his age. Nice coat considering he was a stray and then in the shelter for 6 weeks. We are working on crate training him and helping him feel safe, secure and calm while in his man cave. He may have had a bad experience in the past that makes him feel insecure about it. He is so appreciative and loyal. He likes to explore but never goes too far. A bit of arthritis in his back left leg. Nothing bad, he just needs help getting into the back of our bigger car sometimes. I only met him a few days ago when I picked him up from the shelter but so far we are fast friends. Please consider opening your heart and home to a big ol' senior guy. He will love you for life!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jesse, a Los Angeles Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Los Angeles, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Los Angeles.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Los Angeles already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Los Angeles breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Los Angeles paves the way for another one to be saved.
