Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"Brew" is a 4-yo neutered male Yellow Lab/Chow/GSD who is mellow, friendly, and well behaved. Brew greets everyone he meets w/ a tail wag. He was raised with three young children, and though he was too much for them as a puppy, now he'll probably be perfect. Brew is exceptionally friendly w/ other dogs--a real dog park natural. Not sure how he is w/ cats, but he did sniff at a couple of crated cats in the vet's office w/out raising a fuss. Brew weighs about 70 lbs.
Brew is very well behaved inside, and can be left inside for a full work day without a problem. He has some basic obedience training under his collar. He sits on command, shakes, and walks well on leash. However, he could use some work on off-leash recall. Brew is a good watch dog in that he hardly ever barks, except when he knows there is somebody around who does not belong.
Brew loves to play ball, splash in water, and go for car rides.
Brew's only significant drawback is that he's terribly afraid of firecrackers. In fact, firecrackers caused Brew to bust out of his yard on three different occasions when his owner wasn't home. The last time he broke out, he was brought to the Sac County Shelter, where he languished for nearly three weeks. (The owner had gone to the shelter the day Brew ran off and gave the shelter staff his contact information. Amazingly, the shelter never contacted Brew's owner.)
Brew was nearing his final days at the shelter (and on this earth) when GSRSV rescued him on 10-7. GSRSV was able to contact Brew's owner by contacting the company that maintains the data on Brew's microchip. The owner really liked Brew, but decided to surrender him to GSRSV because of his out-of-town work obligations and Brew's tendency to break out of his yard when he hears firecrackers. He adopted Brew from the Sac SPCA in April 2010.
Brew did great at GSRSV's facility for the five days he was there. He loved playing with the other dogs and running around on the open property . Brew would really do best in a home with another dog, as his former owner attests.
Brew is now in a foster home in Davis. Brew's adoption fee is $200.
