Kay's Story...
Kay is a nine year old Collie/Aussie mix who is currently at the vet/clinic. Her owner was thinking of euthanasia but we were hoping to find a Kay a new home! She is a beautiful and healthy dog who has a very sweet and passive temperament. She has the herding instinct of a Collie and likes to stay close by to watch over. Seems to be great with children and although she didn't have dogs at her previous home, she plays well with others! We are told by the owners that cats didn't seem to bother her.

Kay needs an owner who has the patience to re-train her. About a year ago, Kay started to have storm anxiety and would have accidents in the house. They soon became a reoccurring issue whether storms happened or not and her owners felt ill-equipped to help her. She needs someone who can help her re-learn what she knew a year ago, as at one point she was potty trained. We would love to find Kay a forever home where re-training and love are waiting for her. She is so sweet, we want to help her get a second chance! If you are interested in becoming Kay's new family, please send us an e-mail at: with the subject like "Kay".

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kay, a Plainfield Australian Shepherd/Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd/Collie for sale in Plainfield, or seeking a Australian Shepherd/Collie dog from a breeder in Plainfield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Plainfield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Plainfield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd/Collie breeders who help with Australian Shepherd/Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Plainfield paves the way for another one to be saved.
