Mishka's Story...

Mishka’s adorable face and friendly nature win the hearts of everyone who meets her. If she were the heroine in a Victorian novel, she would be the plucky, forthright young lady who dons her bloomers and sets off to explore Tibet. As she is but a wee cat, her adventures include spelunking under the covers and exploring the wilds of a usually off-limits closet. She purrs in two speeds. Her usual “idle” mode expresses her cheerful “life is good” disposition; when she goes into “full throttle” to express her bliss you can hear her from the next room. A firm believer in the “six hugs a day” principle, Mishka seeks out a lap and a dose of affection a few times a day. Like her brother Ponte, Mishka loves and trusts people; she is a happy, well-adjusted, good-mannered cat.

Mishka and Ponte need to be adopted as a pair. They love to sleep snuggled up together (sometimes it is hard to tell whose paws and tail belong to whom when they are wrapped up in a cuddle knot). When they are feeling mellow, they groom each other; when their frisk is on, they play chase or kick a ball back and forth. They are happy to share the same eating bowl as well. Each kitty has a distinct personality but together they make a charming team, interacting, chatting, purring, and playing with their people, or entertaining themselves when their people are not around. Both of them have gotten along well with my 10-year-old cat, and they have enjoyed playing with young children.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mishka, a Vancouver Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Vancouver, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Vancouver.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Vancouver already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Vancouver breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Vancouver paves the way for another one to be saved.
