My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"What a darling dog" is the first comment a person will say upon meeting Colin. Sweet, gentle, mellow, easy going, friendly, cuddly...just a couple of adjectives that immediately come to mind to describe him. His foster family describes him as "the perfect dog".

Colin is the most mellow, easy-going dog you'll ever meet. Upon meeting Colin for the first time, he is shy, but always offers a friendly tail-wagging greet. He will then become your instant buddy, and get along with everything and anything he encounters. Colin loves to take long walks and is a great walking companion. He is not a high energy dog, but loves to play gently. Well, actually, the high energy Colin exhibits is his "run", at his pace, when he is not on a leash. Colin's favorite pastime is to take walks on a leash. He gets along well with other dogs, but has a fascination with cats, following them around the house. He came to us with a female companion that he seemed very bonded with; unfortunately, she had major health problems and she did not survive. Though he seems to be doing well on his own, we are sure he will be content with another friendly, gentle dog buddy.

At his foster home, Colin is always excited to see who ever comes to visit, doing his "dance of happiness", then he rolls on his back extending his paws upward. He is a trusting dog who is affectionate and content in any given situation. Inside the house he likes to be sitting or napping next to people, yet he is a dog that you don't have to worry about tripping over, because he loves to snuggle in a fluffy dog bed. Colin will "ask" in his special way to be lifted to sit on your lap, and he is just so content just be with a person.

Colin is a handsome Pekingese, with a silky, golden brown, long-haired coat (which will need regular grooming and upkeep). He came to us with a badly damaged eye and recently had surgery to have the eye removed. He has adjusted without it, beautifully. We estimate Colin to be a minimum of 6-7 years old, possibly more. He is a nice manageable size at 17 pounds.

Colin would be happy in home without children - he is very good with children, but he is a mellow dog not interested in the busy-ness, noise or commotion that children can bring. This lovely little dog will be an asset to the family who adopts him, gracing them with love and devotion.

Colin's adoption fee of $250 includes: vet exam, heartworm test, distemper combo vaccination, rabies vaccination, bordetella vaccination, dental cleaning, blood panel lab test, flea & tick preventative, routine deworming, microchip and neuter.

Note, the first photo is pre-eye removal. Stay tuned for updated photos.
