Platz-Prison Dog's Story...
Platz is a friendly 4 year old lab mix that arrived from another facility in hopes of finding a home sooner at Friendship. He's a strong handsome boy with a typical lab personality.

At the end of October Platz was selected to be one of Friendship's Prison Dogs. He is currently undergoing training at the Grafton Correctional Institute. Platz is being trained in obedience, basic commands, manners and proper leash walking. He will spend between 8-12 weeks at the prison.

If you are interested in adopting Platz, adoption applications are now being accepted. They can be downloaded at www.friendshipapl.org under ADOPT-FIND A FRIEND. A limited amount of apps will be accepted for each Prison Dog. They must be hand delivered to Friendship. If you have any questions, please contact the shelter at 440-322-4321. NO FURTHER APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR THIS DOG AT THIS TIME-THE LIMIT HAS BEEN REACHED.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Platz-Prison Dog, a Elyria Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Elyria, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Elyria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Elyria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Elyria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Elyria paves the way for another one to be saved.
