My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Mia and I'm a Boston terrier girl weighing 21 lb. I am black and white and just a tiny bit gray. I am nine years old and have lived a hard life before I was rescued. I lived in a hoarder's house and had no structure and was never taught anything. I was scared of a lot of things and was not feeling well and had pretty much given up. My eyes hurt from being too dry and being injured, I had tons of fleas that had ravaged my skin and coat. I also had diarrhea and didn't know anything about potty-training.

Then a miracle happened and I was rescued! I was taken to a vet and made to feel a whole lot better. The diarrhea has cleared up with medicine and a special food I get from the vet. My foster mom puts artificial tears in my eyes 2-3 times a day and my eyes are bright and clear now. My skin is better since we got rid of those pesky fleas and I have some medicine for allergies when I need it. My fur is growing back nice and shiny. They found I have a low thyroid, just like people, and I take 1/2 pill twice a day, but it doesn't cost much.

The potty-training has gotten SO much better and I try to be a good girl. You kind of have to watch for my signals.

In my "before life", I never knew what toys were, but now I love to play with them. I am so grateful for the love and attention I am getting now, that I will try to hug you and get as close as I can to you in your lap just to be able to soak up all the love!

Mia is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped. If you are interested in Mia, please call her foster mom, Janice, at 706-738-1970. To adopt Mia, go to bostonrescueofsc.com and fill out the adoption application. Mia's adoption fee is $250.
