My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lily is Adopted

Lily is currently being fostered in Mentor Ohio, and her adoption donation is $300

A Fenced Yard and No Children a Requirement for this rescue.

Lily is a beautiful 1 yr old female blonde colored cocker spaniel.
She came to our rescue from SC, where she was surrendered to a shelter from a puppy mill breeder.

Lily is a special needs cocker, she is very very skiddish and unsure of people, she runs and hides anytime she is approached.
She is what we in rescue call a "flight risk", in fact when she was being transported from SC to us here in Ohio, she escaped the transport, and was running loose for 2 weeks in knoxville Tennessee.
We are very lucky to have her back, she could have easily been killed out there on her own, however a good samaritan was able to lure her into her home with food, and that is how we have Lily back safely.
She is in a foster home, with someone experienced in working with skiddish puppy mill dogs, and is becoming more trusting, however still has a ways to go in her socialization skills.

Lily will definitely need a home where there is a secured fenced in yard.
Her adoptive owners will need to have patience and experience with dogs like her, as she is not an ordinary dog that is well socialized.

Lily does not have an aggressive bone in her body, in fact she is very very sweet and affectionate, and is even loving her belly rubs in her foster home.
Her fear of loud noises, and fast movement, as well as being approached is very overcomeable with time and patience, especially since she is young enough to be retrained and socialized with people.
She is learning housetraining skills, and is great with other dogs, in fact, being that she is a mill dog, she is very comfortable around other dogs, and needs to follow them to gain confidence.

In our experience, dogs like Lily, need to be placed in a home that has at least one or two dogs already in the home, or they do not do well and can regress in their timidness.
We believe that in the right home, with an adopter that has the patience, time and skills to work with her, she will thrive and overcome her fears.

Lily is spayed, current on all vaccines, and heartworm negative.

If you would like to adopt Lily or would like more information on her, please fill out an adoption application.

We do not have a shelter, all rescues are in foster homes - Dogs are not shown without first being approved to adopt.
