Hope's Story...
Breed: Rex female Size: About 4 pounds Color: BlackApproximate DOB: Guessing she is about a year, so fall of last year. Reason in rescue: This beautiful girl was found running loose at a local business. She was emaciated, covered in fleas and ticks, had an ulcerated eye and a warble (a bot fly larvae) burrowed under her skin. She was a sad, sad sight. After 1 month this beautiful girl is 100% healed, spayed, and ready for her new forever home! Personality: Hope was initially very scared of people because of what she went through. She has blossomed at our rescue. She's very, very sweet, loves attention, and is very laid back. She is litter box trained, and just an awesome girl. Special Needs: Because of her ulcerated eye when she came in, Hope will always have a cloudy eye and we don't think she can see out of it. We don't believe it will cause any problems in the future. Her coat is very bleached out as she was outside for a while, but it is growing in darker everyday! Ideal Home: Any home would be good for her! Friends: Hope is a good candidate to be bonded to a neutered male. Requirements: Must be adopted as an indoor animal, with an as large as possible plastic bottomed cage or puppy pen. Adoption process: An adoption application must be filled out (email for the application), and approved by us. Then we will arrange a meeting time to see the animal of interest. A home visit is required prior to adoption. Suggested adoption donation is $60 which will include her spay, and first vet visit. **Please email if you are interested in adoption. We respond to all emails within 24 hours** Recommended Food: Oxbow or Kaytee timothy pellets, about 1/4 cup a day, unlimited timothy hay, and 2-3 servings of veggies a day (slowly introduced), especially fresh greens like romaine, green leaf, dandelion, spring or baby mixes, etc. Bedding: Newspaper, Yesterday's News, Cellsorb, or Carefresh

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Hope, a Edinburg Rex was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rex for sale in Edinburg, or seeking a Rex from a breeder in Edinburg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Edinburg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Edinburg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rex breeders who help with Rex rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Edinburg paves the way for another one to be saved.
