River's Story...
As HAHS now has several adoption locations, please contact Beth at bkarlsen.HAHS@gmail.com or 913.648.6713 to find out when and where you can meet RIVER!

My sister Rain and I were found outside all alone and taken to the shelter for some good food and lots of love. After a few weeks we found a foster home with lots of other kittens. Rain has already found a forever home. Now it's my turn! Although I'm shy with new people and new places I'm a happy boy these days. I'm quite curious and busy exploring, climbing the cat tree and wrestling with my friends. I love laser lights, toy mice, tunnels and cuddling with my foster mom. I don't really like having my nails trimmed but I put up with pretty well. I'm a very good eater, not fussy at all and I always use the litter box. I'm looking for a forever home with another kitty, (my friend Lila needs a home too) with people who will give me time to adjust to new surroundings and come and pick me up to cuddle even if I try to hide at times. I promise to love you a lot!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

River, a Overland Park Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Overland Park, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Overland Park.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Overland Park already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Overland Park breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Overland Park paves the way for another one to be saved.
