My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rico is a very affectionate little lap dog. He is an adorable little companion that loves being with people, is fine with other pets and would be good with children of all ages. He has softer hair then a JRT and the energy of a Shih Tzu which means he loves to lie around and relax but is always up for a walk or a bit of play. Rico is an adult dog approximately 5 - 7 years old and weighs approximately 15 lbs.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

Rico is a very sweet little dog. He came into our home with no issues and was friendly with everyone including the cats which he just ignores. He is a wonderful size as he is tiny yet sturdy enough for a bit of play. He doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body and just wants to be loved.

Rico was obviously someone's pet. He is fully house trained, knows some basic commands and walks nicely on leash. He is crate trained but doesn't need one as he can be fully trusted in the home. Rico is very accepting of whatever is going on in the home and eagerly willing to do whatever you ask of him. He has no problem staying on his own but would be fine in a home with other pets including cats. He is very gentle and would be fine with respectful children of any age.

Rico's coat is of medium length and soft. He was a very good boy when we bathed him and pretty much is fine with anything we want to do with him. He loves to find a sunny spot to lie in and is overall a pretty low-key kind of guy. He would be fine in an apartment as he is very quiet in the home even when left on his own. He just loves being with people and doing whatever you would like to do. He is never demanding of attention but laps up all the attention he gets. A very, very sweet little dog! He would be fine for even a senior who would like to get out for short walks. He would do well with a small yard but really would be fine in an apartment with just one walk each day for some mental stimulation.

He really is just a little companion that is gentle, quiet and loves to just be near you. He would fit easily into any home situation.

If you think Rico would be a good fit for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
