My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ESRA#: 2013-774IA
Status: Available

Age: 12 months
Gender: Male
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 47 lbs
Variety: Field

Loki is a very sweet young dog who still has a lot of puppy exuberance and energy. He loves to engage other dogs in play, and he would make an excellent companion to another dog.

This tall boy has beautiful liver-and-white markings and a long tail. He looks a little like a gangly adolescent who is still growing into his body. Loki is a bit on the thin side, so his foster family is working to help him gain a couple of pounds.

Loki knows how to Sit and Shake on command. He is crate trained and will go into his crate and settle down nicely at night. He is housetrained, and he likes to chew on dog chews and play with dog toys. Loki's previous family said that he loves being in the water.

Loki was surrendered because his his size and energy level were too much for the young children in his former family. They said that Loki may have some separation anxiety and that he does not like to be home alone. His current foster family says being in the kennel helps Loki to feel safe, and having other dogs in the house is perhaps comforting for him as well. They have had no problems except for a little barking as they leave for work. Loki has had no significant exposure to cats, so it is unknown how he would do with them.

Loki would do best in a family where he is with adults and older, dog-savvy children. He would benefit from basic obedience classes and from being in a home where he can get lots of exercise. In return, Loki will provide many years of companionship and love to his new adoptive family.

Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Loki.
