Meet Corkey!
Corkey is about 2 years old with a long body, short stubby legs, and HUGE bassett feet, but also seems to have corgi in him. This orphan would do best in with folks that are very dog savvy with no children or cats who are open minded and willing to work with him. Corkey is good with people that are dog friendly and give give off good energy, but is very in tune to negative energies and reacts to them by growling if he feels threatened.( If you arent a dog lover, he know it). Corkey has been tossed around from place to place most of his life and needs a final destination and someone to provide him with stability and structure, once and for all. He is an adorable creature, but he does come with emotional baggage. Corkey LOVES playing with other dogs and will wear himself out wrestling and chasing all day long, BUT he can have some food aggression with other dogs so needs to be fed seperately. Corkey does not show any interest in toys... his interest is mainly in food. He is housetrained and crate trained and is very laid back and easy going...you dont really even know he's there because he's so low maintenance.. Corkey would make a great watch dog... he barks at anyone approaching the house and needs to be put on leash when visitors come to the door. He is protective of his home and people and views strangers coming to the door as a threat until he meets them and gets the ok from his human.Corkey is definately a dog that needs behavioral training and is not for a first time pet owner to attempt on their own. The ideal situation for Corkey would be a home with all of the attention focused on him...A quiet home that doesnt get many visitors .. ... Just one on one time with his human to spoil him. Videos available upon request. If you can give Corkey the training and lifestyle that he needs, please email us for adoption info and an application kim.southernrootsrescue@gmail.com
