My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sugar baby is a very loving and cuddly dog. She is very affectionate and eager to learn. She is a young dog approximately a year old and will need some additional training but she will be an excellent and obedient pet. She loves everyone, is intelligent, eager and willing to please. Sugar Baby currently weighs 27 lbs.

Here is what else her foster family had to say:

Sugar Baby is intelligent, lively, affectionate, and playful. She will make a very devoted companion for anyone and is a calm and quiet in the home. She will need some further training but should never be handled or spoken to roughly as she is very sensitive and always willing to please. She is great with other dogs but would probably do best where she is the only dog in the home. I have no idea how she would be with cats. She is very friendly with everyone she meets. I have not had her around children but I don't see a problem as long as they are respectful and are gentle with her.

She is well on her way to being house trained. I have not used a crate with her and like any young dog she will get into things from time to time if not supervised. She does bond very strongly and listens well when given positive reinforcement and affection. She is nearly leash trained. She needs some help in steering her in certain directions and keeping a steady pace. We are working on her basic commands. She now knows sit, and we are currently working on shake a paw. She is fine in the car and eventually settles and falls asleep. She never tries to get away from us or bolt out the door as she likes to be close to her person.

She seems very healthy other than she may be a little under weight. She is a good eater and is learning that food will be made available to her. Her manners in the home do need some work. When she gets restless or bored she will chew on things she is not supposed to and she does try and take food if it is near eye level. As mentioned above, I have not been crating her so this would alleviate the problem of her puppy actions when you are unable to keep an eye on her or have to go out.

I think she would do well in a home that can commit a bit more time to training her. She would do well with another dog, but I would not recommend her joining a household with more than one dog already. As I said before, she is eager to learn and with some love and training she will make an amazing addition to anyone's family!

If you think Sugar Baby would be a good addition to your family, please submit an application for consideration.
