My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Maggie, a 4 year old German Shepherd. Maggie is a timid little girl as she spent most of her time in a crate for over 12 hours a day and then finally she was dropped off at a high kill gas pound where she deteriorated rather quickly so we rushed to save her.

In foster care she has shown signs of puppy happiness as she loves to play ball and snuggle. She is cat friendly but shy of other dogs. Foster family is working really hard to get her accustom to other doggies so they are visiting dog parks frequently and even started fostering another dog named Jenny so that Maggie can get used to have a friend around. So far it is working great as Maggie is slowly learning to like having a foster sister. The key thing to remember about Maggie is that at 4 years old all the joys of being a free, uncrated and loved dog are new to her so she can be timid in new surroundings and with new people… so foster family is taking baby steps with her to introduce her to all the wonderful things life has to offer! and she is soaking it all up at her pace.

Approaching Maggie quickly with an outstretched hand causes her to be afraid and bark and possibly snap if you are too close – we can speculate all too well what may have been done to Maggie that causes her to react this way. Potential adopters who go visit Maggie should brings some good smelling treats as Maggie responds very well to positive reinforcement training.
We think Maggie would love a home outside of the city with a back yard; she especially loves to play ball and your arm with get tired from throwing the ball way before Maggie’s legs do from chasing her ball down. Don’t let her pictures deceive you as Maggie is just a little peanut of a girl at only 45lbs approx

Maggie is a sweet girl and is just looking for a home to call her own where she can be loved and never ever be crated again! She needs a patient loving hand to guide her out of the darkness she was in for so long and show her how wonderful life can be!

Oh and Maggie wanted me to let everyone know she has her own Facebook Page where you can visit her and see all the fun stuff she does all day long with pictures and videos – just click here to become Maggie’s Friend: https://www.facebook.com/maggie.adoptezmoi?fref=ts
