Leo is a very affectionate cat who loves to be around people and will let you know how much he adores being brushed or rubbed with his constant purr. He likes a quiet home with adults and older children. He warms up to his people quickly but is shy of strangers and will run if he sees them walking up the drive. He would prefer to find a home where he is the only pet as other cats make him nervous and dogs scare him, but he is able to live with both if they give him plenty of time and personal space. He is afraid of being picked up and it will take time to build that kind of trust. However, he loves to be on your lap and will take the opportunity to do so often. He loves finding warm, cozy nooks where he can cuddle up without a bunch of other cats around. His favourite place is on the back of the couch looking out the window. If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at www.caws.org.

About Community Animal Welfare Society

About Our Rescue Group...

Founded in 1992 the Community Animal Welfare Society ( CAWS) is one of the oldest no-kill animal rescues in Utah. Over the last 20 years CAWS, our fosters and supporters have saved thousands of lives including over 600 last this year. As the largest foster home network in the state of Utah we focus on high risk pets in need of additional care and rehabilitation

Come Meet Our Pets...

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.

Our Adoption Process...

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.
