When you meet me, you’ll see why I’m called Bandit. I have a mask around my eyes that makes me look like a bandit planning my next bank heist. I’m a young adult (3 years old) Akita Mix. Folks at the CCA shelter chuckle when they see me. They say I have a “little spring in my step” because I get so excited when someone comes to see me, I look like I’m on a trampoline. I’ve been a member of the CCA family for several years and am looking for a forever home with a take-charge human who can appreciate my potential. Akitas are said to be “ docile, intelligent, courageous, careful and very affectionate with family.” I know I can be all of that and more for the humans who will become my “pack leaders.” I’d be your best friend if you’d take me for long walks, let me sniff new smells, roll in the grass, and rub my tummy. I don’t even need a trampoline.

About Concerned Citizens for Animals

About Our Shelter...

CCA was founded in 1980 by a small group of individuals dedicated to helping animals. Since then, our group has grown to include a small shelter which houses approximately 19 dogs and 13 cats. Our group's mission is varied: to maintain a shelter for abandoned, sick or injured animals; to adopt out dogs and cats to loving permanent homes; to provide for their animals low-cost spay/neuter assistance to families who lack the means to pay; and to strive to prevent and to stop abuse and/or neglect of an animal.

We are always in need of volunteers! If you are interested in becoming a part of our group, please let us know by calling 864.243.4222. We'd be glad to have you on board!

Come Meet Our Pets...

Any person interested in adopting an animal from CCA is welcome to visit our shelter; however, we prefer that an appointment be made prior to visiting.

To gain more exposure for our adoptables, CCA participates in the following:

Please check our calendar at Meetup.com/concernedcitizensforanimals for additional adoptions events.

Our Adoption Process...

CCA's adoption process begins with a written application. Upon submission of the application, our Adoptions Team evaluates it, including both personal and vet references. After approval of the application, a home visit is scheduled. If the home visit turns out satisfactorily, we make the adoption. Each adoption is a group decision.

A contract is always signed by both parties. One copy is for the adoptive family, and the other remains at CCA.

The fee for adopting a dog is $100; for cats, the fee is $75. All dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. In addition, they are micro-chipped, are current on all vaccinations, are heartworm negative and on preventative medicine. They are also on monthly preventative medicine for fleas.

Cats are spayed or neutered prior to adoption as well. They are current on vaccinations, and they receive flea preventative medicine as well.

Please note that CCA is an organization of volunteers, many of whom work full-time jobs. While we make every effort to return all calls promptly, please allow up to 24 hours for us to return your call.
