My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ellie is Adopted

Ellie is currentley being fostered in Kane PA, and her adoption donation is $250

Ellie is an adorable little 5 yr old female cock-a-poo, and here is her story.....
Ellie was brought into the animal protective league in Cleveland Ohio back in august of this year.
She was one of several dogs seized from a neglect case, and she was deathly ill.
Ellie was emaciated, flea and tick infested, matted to the point of being unrecognizeable, and was suffering from ear and skin infections, as well as sever bladder stones that were causing her to urinate straight blood.
Ellie was in bad shap, poor little thing was so sick, she was in pain and needed immediate surgery to remove the bladder stones.
After surgery, she began her road to recovery by being fed a good diet, she was cleaned up, shaved down, freed from the fleas and ticks, then started putting on weight.

Through all of her sickness, she was never nippy or grumpy in any way, she just gave kisses and allowed her rescuers to do whatever they needed to do.
This little girl was a real trooper through all of it, and is now in a foster home learning to be a cared for and beloved companion animal.
Now that a few months have passed, she has come out of her shell, and is thriving.
She is even becoming a little diva dog, she loves to play ball, and will fetch, bring it back then drop it by your feet for more.
She will play ball all day long, in fact, her ball has become her security, she carries it with her everywhere, and goes out to potty with it in her mouth.
The ball also goes to bed with her, and is never far from Ellie.
It took a little while for us to realize her love for a ball, but once known, it has been her constant companion!!

Ellie is a great little dog, but does have her faults just like any of us.
Since being in foster care, we have noticed that she prefers to be the only dog, the alpha female, as many will call it.
She tolerates other dogs, but needs proper introduction, and once she warms up, she does ok for the most part.

She would not do well in a home with another female like herself, however needs a home with a dog that is more laid back and easy going (un alpha) preffered.
She will definitely do best as the only dog, with someone that can give her all of the attention.
We have had her with children, and she seems to like youngsters, however will get growly with them if they try to take her ball out of her mouth, so we are suggesting older children ONLY.

Last thing needed to know about Ellie is that she is eating a prescription diet formulated for urinary tract health, due to her having bladder stones.
She will most likely need to stay with this diet to avoid future recurrence of stones.

Ellie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and is micro-chipped.If you would like to adopt Ellie or would like more information on her, please fill out an adoption application
