My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Manny is big, strong & handsome! He is 103 lbs. He is also well mannered, Loves to be around people, seems okay with our other dogs, and loves to play with a ball or a kong.

This is Manny! We love ALL our dogs, but Manny is one of our volunteer favorites! We believe he is a Mastiff mix, he has a water resilient coat, like a Lab, and he does love the water! He weighs just over 100 lbs and can sometimes be mistaken for a pillow in the shape of a dog. He LOVES his Kong, and will happily destroy a tennis ball in about 5 minutes, but has a very gentle mouth. He gets along with other well mannered dogs, but likes to keep his Kong for himself, most of the time.

He's actually a pretty low maintenance guy. Once he has had his walk and favorite game of "chase the Kong" he is content to find a shady spot, and watch the world go by. He has a deep, manly bark, but is not an excessive barker. He is not good with cats or livestock. He will definitely keep the deer out of your flowers!

He was found at our local Safeway last fall. He has a chip, but the phone number was no good. Animal Control posted a notice at the address and someone did call, but no one came to bail him out of doggy jail.

He was adopted by a family with a young child & a neutered Rottweiler. Things were looking up for Manny, until he met the horse, and he was returned.

He's getting a little depressed with life at Animal Control and is ready for his forever home!

We pre-screen adopters interested in the American Staffordshire Terriers at Del Norte Animal Control, and an adoption application will be required from those interested in providing a fab furever home to Manny. Please call us at (707) 464-7235 for additional information.

Del Norte County Animal Control is located in rural Crescent City, CA (a tiny coastal city on the OR/CA border). We have a very small shelter with small indoor 3x6 kennel runs, low foot traffic, odd adoption hours and it rains a lot which means the dogs can’t come outside and play. Please consider making a difference in a dog’s life and adopt from our shelter!

We are open Monday – Friday from 8am to 5pm.
We are closed Saturday and Sunday.
