Thumper's Story...
Thumper is a very sweet and loving, two-year-old, eight-pound, female, white and brown Pekingese looking for a loving guardian.

Poor Thumper was an un-wanted gift … so she was left alone to live in the garage of a child’s daycare center. Luckily she rescued by a woman who has a great love for the breed. She is shy but very sweet and loving with people of all ages. She’s living in a foster home with other dogs and cats with whom she gets along with beautifully.

She is a super snuggler and wants to be as close to you as possible - including sleeping with you. The Pekingese breed originated in China and were favored by royalty of the Chinese Imperial court as both a lap dog and companion dog. After meeting Thumper, I understand why they were the choice of royalty.

Thumper is still working on perfecting her housebreaking … she’s 90% there. She suffers from dry eye so she’ll need drops twice a day to keep her eyes lubricated and free of scratches.

Thumper is otherwise healthy, de-wormed, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. To meet and possibly adopt Thumper, please contact Chris at or 630-699-1480. Her adoption fee of $200 benefits rescued pets. Thumper is currently being fostered in Naperville, Illinois.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Thumper, a Chicago Pekingese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pekingese for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Pekingese dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pekingese breeders who help with Pekingese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
