Henry is a handsome 4 year old Shih Tzu mix (Bichon or Poodle?) who weighs about 17 pounds. Henry came from a puppy mill and has been in foster care since July, 2013, which is a long time! Unfortunately his life in a puppy mill didn’t prepare him for the things he would experience in the real world, and he consequently is rather apprehensive of strangers or visitors to his home. He has learned a lot while in foster care, but he will always be a shy boy who is hesitant to welcome strangers. He is actually a very happy, outgoing boy as long as he is just with his family in his familiar surroundings and not with a lot of new people or unknown situations. He enjoys car rides, romping in the back yard with his foster siblings, snuggling in bed with his foster mom, and he loves to go on long walks on a leash. He is really a homebody who likes routine and his familiar surroundings. Even though Henry is shy, he has lots of energy and is very animated and entertaining with his foster family. His ideal home would be one where his family is home much of the time and has few visitors, no young children, and where he would be an integral part of the family. He would also enjoy the company of another small dog. He has strongly bonded with his foster mom and will also bond with his adopters, but he needs a new family who wants a dog who will be a constant companion. He is very devoted and only wants love and security in return.
Henry is healthy, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and on year round heartworm preventative. His adoption fee is $320.00 plus Minnesota sales tax.
