My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bella Rose is an adorable and spunky Shih Tzu/Japanese Chin mix. She has beautiful thick black fur with white accents on her face, chest and feet. Bella weighs about 8 pounds and will be 3 years old in February. Bella is looking for a family that will give her lots of love and care! When she came into our rescue, Bella had a luxating patella or kneecap that was never in place. She had surgery on October 7th to repair her knee and is now walking and moving around just great! Bella will just need to always keep her “girlish figure” so she doesn’t put extra stress on her leg. It will also be important for her to walk so she keeps herself and her legs in shape! Bella loves to go for walks and play so exercising will be a joy for her! Fetching her ball or a toy is a favorite past time of this little girl! She also loves rides in the car or just looking out the window to watch the world outside! Bella has another special quality, she likes to talk to you! Talking does not mean barking, although she does bark if she sees something outside to warn you about. Her talking sounds like little “woofs” that let you know what she wants or likes. Bella has “happy sounds” and “bossy sounds”. You will quickly learn what Bella wants when she talks to you. Bella is learning to control her “talking” with the help of her foster mom and some training. Bella would do best in a quiet home with adults only. She loves to be your companion so Bella would be happiest in a home where someone is also home much of the day. Bella can be an only dog in the home or she would also be happy with another small dog who is submissive in nature. Bella has also enjoyed cats as companions in her previous family. Bella is almost totally house trained as long as you remember to take her outside on a regular schedule. Because Bella is still young and also a bit spirited, she would really benefit from obedience training with her new owner. Bella is healthy, spayed, micro chipped and up to date on her vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $370.00 plus sales tax. Bella’s foster family would like to find a home for her within 30 miles of Minneapolis. Her adoptive family is also encouraged to attend the Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held the third Saturday in June each year. If you are interested in adding this sweet girl to your family, please contact Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota at www.shihtzurescuemn.org/adopt. Please thoroughly read the adoption information to help you understand the process, requirements and timeline for adoption. To meet Bella and other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota, please visit with us from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Minnetonka Petco near Ridgedale the last Saturday of every month.
