My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Leila!

She is a 1 year old golden/duck toller/husk mix who is a very affectionate dog, loves attention and cuddles!

She has separation anxiety, which is something her foster mom is working on. She cries when left alone in the house and managed to escape her crate a few times. With time and patience we are sure she will overcome this.

We believe her past owners didn't put any offer in her training as she lacks basic knowledge but she has already improved so much in the short time she is in foster care, she is doing better in walks, not pulling so much on the leash, and even waits her foster mom to go down the stairs first.

Leila is great with most dogs, she goes by energy (she is uncomfortable around nervous dogs but really good with friendly dogs). She is very patient yet nicely playful with the neighbor’s 5 month puppy.

She seems to get on fine with cats, probably would be good with a confident cat. Of course it all depends on the cat and doing properly introductions.

Leila seems to love and adore kids. She is currently living with 2 children (ages 10 and 13) and burrows herself deeply into their laps. In fact we believe she is used to getting love from kids for sure. She loves to meet kids on the street and will patiently be petted and gives lots of kisses. We would love if her forever home had kids!

She is not housebroken yet, and this is also her foster mom has been working on.

Leila is not a barker. She does needs daily walks, she is currently walking 16 km a day to burn off the energy from being locked in a cage at the pound but is not a hyper dog. Leila is fearful, particularly when meeting new people, but she is learning she can trust people, and once she trusts you she is sweet as can be. Loud and sudden noises also scare her; she flinches and put her tail between her legs. We think in a few weeks she will get used to all these and will be more comfortable and relax.

Foster mom says Leila is friendly as can be, anywhere, seemingly with anyone.
