Piper is a 2 year old white and gray female Shih Tzu who weighs about 13 pounds. Piper has a very playful and bright personality, though she is shy at first and needs time to warm up to new people. She loves to go for long walks, play with toys, and snuggle. Since coming into rescue, she has been learning about new people and places, and has been working on basic obedience training. She is looking for a person who can take her for the long daily walks that she requires, and someone who has the patience and experience to continue her training. Piper has fear issues primarily around men, and reacts by barking when someone, particularly a man, comes into her space. Due to her fear, she readily bonds to women, but is more hesitant around men. Her foster mom has been working with her to overcome this fear and reactive behavior, but Piper will need a family who can commit to continuing with her training. Because of her shy nature, Piper would do best in a home without small children, and she would love a family who is home a lot during the day. If you are looking for a funny, energetic and cuddly sidekick, Piper would love to meet you. She is up-to-date on her vaccinations, is spayed and microchipped. Her foster mom would like her new home to be in the Twin Cities area and for her new family to bring her to the Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion on the third Saturday in June each year. Piper's adoption fee is $370 plus sales tax.
