My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

To know Dawn is to love her and that we do! Dawn is a 3-4 year old Boxer/Pointer mix that has left her paw prints on all of our hearts. It's hard for us to believe just how far she has come since we took her into our rescue. She was emaciated, very aloof and could have cared less if we were around or not. About the only time she wanted anything to do with us was when we had food or treats for her. Dawn has lived a hard life and probably has never had anyone in it worth loving. She came to us missing some of her front bottom teeth and I hate to even think about how she lost them.

Over these last few months we've watched her slowly blossom into a calm, loving dog. She has gained a lot of weight and looks beautiful, healthy, and now has a white coat full of little brown spots. We enrolled Dawn a few weeks ago into a group training class with a couple of our other dogs to help her develop some new skills. She has been doing great around other dogs in these classes and is learning some basic obedience skills. She graduated from a 6 week group obedience class with honors!

Dawn is a very goofy girl that loves to throw her toys up in the air and catch them She is very entertaining to watch, whether she is chasing her own tail on occasion or making bubbles with her lips while she awaits her food. She absolutely loves walks, listening to the birds and being outside. She also thinks that chasing cats is really, really exciting and for that reason, we do not recommend her to a home with cats. Dawn has waited a long time for a home of her own but we feel that she has become such a better dog over this time. She is finally ready to love someone with her whole heart and live the life she deserves!
