My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Madigan (Maddie) is a 2 year old female blue merle available for adoption in Atlanta, Georgia.

She's a stunning girl with white markings, tan points, and merled eyes standing 21" tall, weighing 45lbs.

Maddie is very playful, intelligent, athletic, eager to please and food motivated.
More than anything she's a velcro Aussie.
She's super affectionate, follows her person everywhere and will definitely require a good amount of attention in order to be happy.

Maddie is extremely social.
She loves all people, including children.

She has an average desire to herd other dogs, but rarely nips with any type of authority.
She doesn't have much toy drive, but will chase after any dog running for a ball.

She is non-aggressive with both food and toys.
Maddie takes treats gently and loves playing tug on the other end of a rope.

She guards her home and family the way any Aussie should.
Maddie will alert bark to let you know someone is on the other side of the fence, but does not bark excessively. She greets visitors with a friendly wiggle, but should still be properly introduced to new people to avoid confusion. If she believes they're intruding she will definitely do her job.

Her energy level is moderate for the breed.
Maddie can be excitable and jumpy at times, but knows when enough is enough.
She doesn't have formal leash training or "heel", but we've been impressed with how well she walks on a leash. She rides great in the car and does not need to be restrained.

She loves going to dog parks provided they're for big dogs weighing over 25lbs (and people respect the rule by not bringing little guys in).
Maddie will do serious harm to small animals because she views them as prey. We do not recommend her for a family with cats or toy breed dogs.

She's housebroken and non-destructive when supervised.
The only area she could use a bit of work in is crating. She will go in there when asked, but really just wants to be with her people. She will pace and whine before falling asleep. This is nothing we consider out of control or separation anxiety. The crate just isn't her favorite place to hang out!

Maddie is ADDICTED TO CUDDLES!
We believe she'll be happiest with a moderately active family with plenty of love to give!
A nice back yard to play in with a herding breed brother or two would be perfect.
