Carmella and Cassandra, two darling little Shih Tzu Coton girls. Very small and very sweet, these babies have a soft, fluffy, shedless Coton coat and Shih Tzu markings. They are darling babies who will be about 10 to 12 pounds when they is fully grown. Come and meet them or email for more information -dogs@takeafriendhome.org. To adopt, go to our website www.takeafriendhome.org and click on the link to the application. Complete and send. Information on these great breed is available at dogbreedinfo.com. It will give you lots of information about temperament and needs.

Housetrained? These pups live in an inside pen with a dog door to the outside. They know “out” is the place to go but, you will have to teach them to ask you to open the door. A pup is just a baby until they are 12 weeks old and can’t be expected to any more “pottie trained” than a 9 month old baby. In other words, your pup will be as housetrained as you are.

For your dog to be successful: use a crate, go out with your dog, praise “right action”, and expect more of yourself than you do of your dog. Housetraining tips are in your adoption packet.

Adoption Fees and Payment Plans: We take credit cards and checks. Payments can be arranged with a credit card. As with all of our adoptions, we know it is hard to get married on a blind date... even to a wonderful pup. We will take our dog back during the first month and refund your adoption fee less $75. To hold a pup, we ask for a $50 non-refundable deposit if delivery is not made during the same week.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Carmella Coton Tzu, a St. Louis Coton de Tulear/Shih Tzu puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Coton de Tulear/Shih Tzu for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Coton de Tulear/Shih Tzu puppy from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Coton de Tulear/Shih Tzu breeders who help with Coton de Tulear/Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
