My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lila is a lovely pup. She is friendly and affectionate with everyone and especially gentle with children. Lila loves to play but is just as happy to cuddle beside you on the couch. She is a puppy still at just 6 months old and currently weighs 24 lbs. We expect she will be approximately 40 lbs as an adult.

Here is what else her foster family had to say:

Although she was a little shy at first meeting, she warmed up to everyone in the home within minutes. Straight away she went to my children and gave them a lick on the hand and went off to play with them. She continued to gives hugs and kisses as if she was saying "thank you" for saving me. She is very gentle with the kids and only gets excited when they start getting rowdy but she quickly settles when asked. I have had Lila around my two children ages 6 and 8 and a friend's child age 3 and she has been very gentle with them. Lila has not acted aggressively but as she is a puppy she does try and play bite but with a stern "No" or "Ow" she stops and does not continue. I have petted Lila while she has eaten her food and she shows no sign of food aggression and my children have fed her treats and she takes them very gently.

Lila loves to play with other dogs but her puppy energy is sometimes to much for some dogs. She will chase anything that moves at this point so I am not sure she would be good with cats without some further socialization and training. I don't believe she would hurt them but she would definitely like to make a good game of chasing them.

Lila is very clean and healthy. She is very easy to groom. She sheds but with regular brushing it helps a lot. She is learning her basic commands and we are working on "sit", "off" and "leave it". We are also working on her leash training which is coming along but she will definitely need someone that is willing to continue working with her. She is well on her way to being completely house trained as we have set her on a good schedule and ensure she gets out regularly to do her business. She does sleep in a crate and will whine for the first few minutes but does settle and sleeps through the night with no issues. She loves to please you. I found that although she loves everyone she does tend to stay close by me and follow me everywhere I go.

I think Lila would do very well in a family setting with children. They will need to ensure she gets proper exercise, lots of positive praise and encouragement and willing to put the time into helping her become a competent companion. She really is still a baby. She would be fine with another dog in the home but it would have to be a dog that could tolerate her puppy energy and always wanting to play. A small or low energy dog may find her too much. Lila is a free spirited girl and is a sweet and kind dog who will give you her heart and be a loyal companion for life.

If you think Lila would be a good choice for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
