My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Poor Dena has had quite the life... Originally pulled from a California shelters as a young puppy of about 5-6 months old in 2013, she waited in rescue until about a year old for adoption. We're not sure why she waited so long, as she loved children and people at adoption events and got along fine with dogs and even cats!

Adopted in May of 2014, she spent a year in what we hoped would be her forever home. However, we recently received a call from her adopters citing behavioral reasons for needing to return her. While Dena is not aggressive, she is shy with new people and situations, so a home that understands this and is willing to slowly integrate her will be necessary. She is also destructive when left unattended in the yard, and will dig holes and get into other mischief. The same goes for being crated with anything in the crate. She has an affinity for chewing up dog beds.

She's still acclimating to being in rescue again, and we will update her profile as we have more information. She is overweight right now, which suggests that she may not be as destructive in a new home with proper exercise and further training. However, it will take time and commitment. This girl is still young (about 2 years old), and absolutely beautiful when conditioned. She is very leggy and likely has hound in addition to Doberman!
