Oxford's Story...
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Hello!  My name is Oxford.

The name fits me very well since I am nothing but a sophisticated and very handsome gentleman!  I mean, how could you not think I am cute??  I really enjoy going on my daily walks, playing with my foster brothers (a great dane and a pitbull), playing fetch, playing with toys and bones, and snuggling with my foster family!  I am told I am one of the best (and prettiest!) pitbull my foster parents have ever seen.  I know a lot of fun tricks including sit, shake, lay down, roll over, stay, high five, and I keep learning daily!  I am house trained and crate trained.  While I do not live with children on a daily basis, the neighborhood children I meet on a daily basis I am very respectful to.  I really enjoy the children who like to give me treats and rub my belly but I should go to a home with children 13 or older!

I would LOVE to become a part of your family if you would give me a chance.  I promise to love you unconditionally and give you puppy tail wags and kisses daily!!

Note on breed determination:  Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue does its best to determine the breed(s) of our adoptable animals.  We use a combination of the look of the dog or cat and the information provided to us when we accept the animal into our rescue.  Unless the animal was surrendered by the owner and has papers confirming breed, we do our best to determine the appropriate breed(s).  This is especially true when the Mixed Breed is marked 'Yes' or 'Unknown'.

If you are interested in meeting any of animals that are currently up for adoption, please go to our website @ and fill out the "Adoption Application".  Once the application has been processed, a Wags representative will get in touch with you, answer any questions you have and set up a time/location to do a "meet and greet"; this will allow you to meet this fur baby and see if they are the one for you!

A home visit is required prior to all adoptions. Wags and Whiskers will adopt out animals within a 60 mile radius of the Twin Cities, or a 30 minute radius of Duluth, Rochester, and Mankato.

Thank you for choosing to adopt!!

About Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue is 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to saving lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs in high kill shelters. We are a small, no-kill, volunteer run organization. All of our dogs listed are in foster homes waiting to be adopted and because of this, we get to know the dogs' personalities very well and use this information to match them to an appropriate home. We do not have a physical shelter. This rescue is not funded by public funds nor does it receive many donations so it is dependent on adoption fees to keep operating. We have a great need for foster homes. If you are interested in providing foster care, and live near Twin Cities, please e-mail us at

Our Adoption Process...

We only adopt out animals to homes within 60 miles of the Twin Cities, or a 30 minute radius of Duluth, Rochester, and Mankato! Our adoption process includes adoption application. After reviewing your application a meeting is scheduled between you and the pet, in the fosters home or a neutral dog friendly place. If there are any resident dogs are in your home, it is required that the dogs meet at this time. After the meeting a home visit is scheduled and if everything goes well with the visit the adoption is finalized at that time. A home visit by one our representatives is REQUIRED prior to finalizing any adoption and we must meet all members of the household where the pet will be living sometime during the adoption process. We reserve the right to refuse any applicant for any reason Adoption fee includes vet exam(s) , spay/neuter, de-wormings, heartworm test (if 6 months of age or older) and up-to-date vaccinations. **Microchip available for a $20 donation to the rescue** **We would also Like to thank Lexington Pet Clinic for offering a free office visit to all of our new adoptive parents** Please note, Email is the best way to get a fast response, feel free to call us, but due to the high volume of calls we receive daily, it may take up to one week for your call to be returned ***the first step to the adoption process is to fill out the adoption application at our website, once that is completed, it will be reviewed and the foster parent will call you to set up a time to meet your new family member***
