My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Samson is a Rescue In Need and is on medical hold.
MAGDRL got an email from a lady in need of help after her 3 year old Great Dane had been involved in a hit and run accident, breaking his rear leg, giving him a compound fracture. This was very late on Wednesday evening. A kind neighbor helped her get him to the emergency vet and upon medical evaluation it was determined that his surgery alone would be well over $2000. The owner was not able to pay for the surgery but the vet office did grant her a 24 hour grace period to try and find funds or locate a rescue that may be able to help. Samson was made comfortable and the race was on. MAGDRL agreed to take this boy into their rescue program and pay for his surgery. He was surrendered to us at 12 pm the Thursday after his accident and was in surgery within the hour. We rallied round to find him a foster home that would be able to accommodate his recovery period and then moved him there by way of our tremendous volunteers on the Friday after his surgery. He was collected from the vet on Friday evening, had a brief stay overnight at one of our volunteers homes, to then finish his travels on Saturday morning. He is now recovering slowly at his new foster home. He has to be kept quiet, with little activity and his bandages need to be attended too on a regular basis to avoid infection. He is settling in nicely with his new foster sister but has a long way to go before he will be completely up and running. He will need follow up appointments and possibly some therapy once all is said and done but he is expected to make a full recovery. His cost so far has been $2500. Samson is a sweet soul that is good with children and other dogs. Cats are unknown at this time due to not wanting him to feel the need to chase if he sees that cat currently in his foster home so we will test this further when he is a little further forward in his recovery. He will be going back for recheck and stitch removal in a week. Follow up x-rays will be needed at this time to make sure everything is healing well.
