I am already neutered and up to date with shots.
I'm Doodle, also know as "the Dood." I'll greet you with a head tilt and a wagging tail, but only after I've gotten to know you. At 9 years old, I've been waiting for my perfect partner for a long time now. It would be best if I was in a home with no children; my age just can't keep up! I have been known to get along with easy-going dogs if I'm properly introduced. I even made an indoor kitty friend recently! But let's be honest, I'm really not an overly active guy. I do enjoy peaceful walks with a confident handler who will let me know everything is ok, but even a fenced in yard might be all I need. Maybe I'll even show you how smart I am with some of my tricks! Then, when we get home, I'll snuggle up on the couch and nudge your hand to pet me until I fall asleep. I'd still like to you stay nearby, though, to reassure me that everything is just fine (though lately, I have been working on crate-training). I have been slowly working on staying relaxed when I'm left alone, but will need to have consistent rules so I can be on my best behavior with you always.
The shelter life is really no life for an older guy like me. The concrete kennel runs are so hard and cold; I'd really like a cozy couch to curl up on. Honestly, I'm just quite tired of being alone. Won't you come rescue me so that we can ride off in the sunset together?
Staff quote about Doodle:
• According to DHA Animal Caretaker, Ashley, “Doodle loves his people and he is always happy to see staff – tailwagging, but he seems miserable being here for so long."
