My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

THIS DOG IS A COURTESY POST - Anke was found in South Alabama by an Animal Control Officer. No one claimed her so she was placed for adoption. However, the shelter she was in ran out of space and needed to euthanize to relieve the over-crowding. Fortunately for Anke, she was transferred to another facility. She has been there since May 07. Not many people adopt large breed dogs from shelters so GSRCA was asked to help.

“Anke is a strong, yet gentle girl. She is very friendly and will sit on command. She loves her walks and seems to get along with the other dogs. She is very patient waiting for her walks and doesn't bark to get your attention. She also loves water. Given the chance, she will jump into the plastic kiddie pool and lie in the water. She will even put her face down in the water."

It is believed that “Anke would be good with children (she has never shown aggression towards them), but we would be hesitant with small children since she could knock them down without meaning to, due to her size.” She has not been tested with cats.

Anke is spayed, up-to-date on her shots (rabies, bordatella, combo vaccines), microchipped, heartworm-negative, is on heartworm preventative and has been de-fleaed and de-wormed.
