THIS IS VALENTINO....a stunning, gold/white parti colored -- with black tips, 7 month old (DOB 5/2013), 14 lb, Lhasa Apso puppy. What in the heck this dog was doing in the shelter, we really can't say. If he had been my dog, I would have pulled out all the stops to find him!! Why he wasn't adopted immediately is another question we can't answer, except if there were very young kids in the home (as they seem to frighten him). What we can tell you is Valentino is not only gorgeous, he is very smart, as most Lhasa are, and is really a sweetheart of a pup. He is a great balance of puppy and calm....heavy on the puppy! He definitely has great energy and needs and active household to exercise, walk and help him experience the world! He is a very trainable dog and all he needs is a home that understands what it takes to "bring up baby!" Valentino earned his name, as he is a beautiful example of the breed. He loves to give kisses, play with toys and be your buddy! We did just learn that he is a little head/face shy with kids, so children should not be in his future. We think that he would be best in a home that doesn't have a lot of chaos, as quick, jerky moves seem to frigten him. He definitely should have a canine companion to play with; possibly kids over 12 yrs would be OK and he definitely would love a yard to play in! He will need a family who will be patient with him, pay attention to his training and hopefully not leave him at home too often. With help, Valentino will be the best companion a family can have....training must be in his future, he needs to know you are boss, and you will get more love than you can handle. This boy is a gem....let him sparkle and light up your home!

UPDATE!!!! Lhasa Happy Homes will be now holding our adoption events most every Sunday at ROVER KENNELS on Main Street in Santa Monica (check calendar link below for special events and directions). Rover is located at 2116 Main Street, in Santa Monica, CA. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household. Main Street is famous for its innovative shops and is close to the beach! Make a day of it!! Metered parking on the street and free parking on 4th and Bicknell Streets.
Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household....and do some fantastic shopping at the same time! Please do call us if you are coming to see a particular dog to make sure he/she will be at adoptions (we do not bring sick dogs to our adoption events). Please bring a copy of your application and pictures of your home and yard if we have not done a home check! Most importantly, if you have a dog, make sure you bring him or her to do a compatibility match with the dog you are interested in adopting!
