Gus's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.

Gus's Story...
Gus came to BHRG when his owners died after he'd been with them his entire life. The owner's children didn't want this 11-year-old gentleman so they were going to have him euthanized. Thank goodness Gus is with BHRG! This gent is healthy and is up-to-date on shots. He'd love to spend his retirement with a permanent family. Gus is a BIG boy - weighing 85 lbs - and is housetrained. He loves to snuggle and spoon with you. He thinks he is a little kid and wants to be part of your family. Just be careful, he will help you out with your fridge when you open it. Gus was always fixed his own plate at every meal. He wants to go with you every were you go, either work out in the yard, or to the grocery store. He can be snappy with other dogs if he thinks they are going to get "his" food. He will eat "dog" food, but it's not to his liking... your plate looks and smells better. Favorite sleeping spot....the front of the fridge door.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gus, a Marietta Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound for sale in Marietta, or seeking a Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Marietta.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Marietta already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Marietta breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound breeders who help with Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Marietta paves the way for another one to be saved.
