Shadow is a sweet little dog that is good with mature children (7yrs+), cats and she is okay with other dogs after a proper introduction. She could use a little more socializing with both canines and strangers, she is not aggressive or nippy but more nervous and rather quite vocal like a hound and tends to howl when meeting strangers or other dogs for the first few times. She prefers to approach people on her own time and quickly comes around to see what every thing is about; her curiosity easily gets the better of her especially if you have a treat. Shadow will need a patient and understanding owner who will give her time to settle in to her new home and get a new routine going. She has been excellent in her foster home but is upset by change in her routine. She is house trained and crate trained. She is fine to be alone for the typical 9-5 work hours but should be in a crate when alone. Shadow likes to greet her owner at the door with a squishy squeaky toy, bone or ball to show you just how happy she is that you are home. She travels well in the car, loves walks and a Kong toy with a tasty smelling snack inside will keep her occupied for hours. Being a Beagle… Shadow should never be off leash unless in a securely fenced area, she is not suitable for an apartment and needs a house with a fully fenced yard.
