My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING. ADR is not responsible for the health, temperament, behavior or placement of this dog. Listings are done at the request of the dog's owner and as an outreach and community service in hopes of finding these dogs a loving, stable forever home. Placement decisions are made solely at the discretion of the owner and not Austin Dog Rescue. Owners are required to ask for an adoption fee from adopters.

This is the back story on this adorable little guy, provided by the person who took him in:

Mr. Scruffles was relinquished to us by neighbors who could not keep him in their backyard (he was climbing their fence). We were worried for his safety, so we agreed to help find him a safe home. Now we find ourselves to be asking for help as our connections and our Craigslist ad have been coming up empty handed, so we wish to reach a wider audience.

We found this adorable bear-faced terrier mix running around our neighborhood in April this year. He is a 2yr old, 40lb, neutered male. It turns out that he was microchipped, so we contacted the previous owners who relinquished the dog to us so that we could find him a better, safer home as he was escaping from their backyard regularly.

We took him in, got him caught up on all his shots, and even took care of his heartworms -- the poor guy was heartworm positive, but is now cured and on preventative medicine. We also began crate training him which has been going great. Since he was an "outdoor" dog before, it took us some effort to get him potty trained, and he has come a very long way thanks to the crate training exercise.

We have found that he can climb even tall fences if they have horizontal beams making them not flush. Because of this it would be best for him to either live in an apartment/house and taken out on a leash or he can play in a back yard with a flush fence or an invisible fence barrier.

We have two small dogs and a cat of our own, and this doggie gets along just fine with all of them. Mr Scruffles is gentle and likes to just chill out most of the time and chew on his rawhide bone or stuffed toys. He gets excited about going out for walks or drives and he loves to be brushed and snuggled. He would be a great companion for someone wanting a nice, quiet, and snuggly friend.

We request serious inquiries only please, so we are asking a small $40 re-homing fee. My number is (512) 922-9186. Please contact Jamie if interested.
